Bonnie Prince Charlie (2 Days) – Overview
This two day trip would involve travelling north from Glasgow via Loch Lomond to Glencoe with its wonderful scenery and sense of history. It was here that the clan Macdonald was massacred by soldiers commanded by Robert Campbell of Glenlyon on the 13th of February 1692. We proceed to Ballachulish and on to Fort William. From there we travel west to the village of Glenfinnan where Prince Charles witnessed the raising of the standard in 1745. There is a spectacular monument and a visitor centre to the “45 Rebellion”. Then it’s on to Inverness via Loch Ness (and the monster). We stay in comfortable accommodation in Inverness.
